NURTURE

NUTURE is a conceptual app designed for plant-caring

PROBLEM STATEMENT

Plant owners often struggle to look after their plants - whether it being how often to water it or what to do about diseases and fungi.

THE SOLUTION

Nurture is a mobile app which allows users to scan and identify plants, learn about what conditions are most suitable for their plant, and set up reminders to water and fertilise their plants - all in one!

QUALITATIVE RESEARCH

We also conducted 8 one-to-one interviews, constructive feedbacks were received.

Some sample questions..

  • What are the main factors in your decision when buying a plant?

  • How knowledgeable are you about the conditions best suited for your plants?

  • Do you struggle looking after your plants? If so, what do you struggle with most?

  • Have you ever struggled to keep your plant alive? If so, what did you do to try and keep it alive?

  • Where would you go for more information about your plants?

The summarized user testing results of the needs & pain points are presented in a Persona below.

COMPETITOR ANALYSIS

Group 1730.png

Key weaknesses in the market:

  • Needs subscription to gain full access to all functions of App

  • No note-taking / journaling plant growth feature

  • All have trial period for free versions

  • Great commitment is needed to continuously use hence to purchase the plan

  • Plant-caring apps are quite mature in functions with existing products already.

In conclusion, it is a challenge for a new plant-caring app to step foot into a competitive market. We need to incorporate more attractive features and UI designs to capture existing and new users' attention to NUTURE.

FINAL PROTOTYPE

Designing a brand new product is a challenging task even when working in a team, and especially being a Project Leader. This project has made me realize the importance of User Research when creating a user-friendly app from scratch.

It is amazing how empathizing with the target audience has helped us conclude the features to be prioritized into our plant-caring app. Competitor analysis was essential for us since a few mature products already exist in the market.

A thorough UX feedback from plant-owners helped us create a fitting UI design easily. As we identified the theme - our Style Guide has beautifully filled into our wireframes to finalize our app -NURTURE.
